Games that you can try!

Fresh

Split your group into two teams, line them up on opposite sides. Name one group the cucumbers and the other the carrots (or something similar that you would find in a fridge that can go off.) The game of fresh then begins. A player must try to catch a member from the other team who is not as fresh as them. Imagine that the line that they started on is actually a fridge, when they move off the line, they begin to lose their freshness. So to catch someone else they must be watching who else on the other side is moving off the line. If they get caught, they move off to the jail which is located on the other teams left side. Other members of their team can save them by going over and touching them, but they run the risk of getting caught. The game is finished when one team is fully caught or when the kids have had enough.

Dodge Ball

Choose a square that all the kids must stay in. Then have some people stay outside the square and throw balls inside. The ball must stay low and only be thrown underarm (we also suggest a soft ball). If a child is hit below the knees they are out and must move to the side and throw the ball in with the others. The winner is the last one left.

Amputee Balloon Swat
You remember the rainy-day game that boredom drove you to—Keep the Balloon from Hitting the Ground or Else It Blows Up. For this version each person has an inflated balloon to protect—and at the same time, they must try to bat others' balloons to the ground. The catch is, they can use only one hand to play this game. They have to keep the other hand in a pocket or behind their back or otherwise out of play. You get the idea—one hand to share both defensive and offensive tasks.
You'll need boundaries of some sort—such as walls or tape strips on the floor—to keep all players in the thick of the action so they don't wander off to protect their balloons. Players are out when their balloons hit the floor or are swatted out of bounds. Or you can add the rule that players are out only when their balloons hit the floor and are stepped on and popped—and they can only step on a balloon that's already on the ground.

Catastrophe
This game can be used with a group of 15 or more people. Divide the group into three teams, and have each team sit in chairs in three lines, parallel to each other and with about three feet between the teams. All players should be facing the same direction, which is toward the front of their team's line. (Each player sits facing a teammate's back.) Each team has the name of a town, such as Pottstown, Mudsville, and Dry Gulch (any name will do). Each player on each team is assigned an occupation — plumber, carpenter, policeman, preacher, teacher, doctor, etc. Each team should have the same occupations, and they should be seated in the same order on each team as well. The leader then calls out an occupation and a town, such as, "We need a policeman at Pottstown." At that point, the policemen on each team must get up out of their chairs, run around their teams, and return to their chairs. The first person back in his or her chair wins a point for his or her team. An additional twist to this game is that players must run around their teams in the right direction. This is determined by which town is called. For example, if the team lines are arranged so that Pottstown is on everyone's left, Mudsville is on the right, and Dry Gulch is in the middle, then if Mudsville is called, players must get out of their chairs on the right, and run around the team in a clockwise (right) direction. Pottstown would be left, and if Dry Gulch is called, either direction is okay. If you don't run in the correct direction, you lose. If the leader calls out, "There's been a catastrophe in (town name)," then everyone on all three teams must get up and run around the team, again in the correct direction. The first team completely seated gets the point. Remember that everyone must get up from their chairs on the correct side, as well as going around in the right direction.

Chain Tag
Here's a fast moving game of tag that can be played indoors or out. One person begins as "It," but as soon as she tags someone, that person must take her hand and they continue tagging people as a unit. Once there are eight in the tagging group, it breaks apart and becomes two groups of four. This continues with each group of four trying to catch the remaining people. Every time they catch four more, they break off and form a new group of four. The result is several groups of four chasing the free single players who have not been caught yet. The game is played until everyone is caught. Running in group is a lot of fun and the effect is something like Crack the Whip.
