Hi and welcome to Matt's online journal!

Thanks for taking the time to support and encourage our Super Squad Members for 2008! We have an excellent group of young people this year and it is really exciting watching them grow and be challenged by the different things they have and will face over the summer.

Remember that you can email them anytime over the summer on their super squad emails, either to encourage them, find out more about their experiences or perhaps to ask questions if you are interested in doing the course next year!

And now let's hand it over to Matt....

Thanks again, God Bless

Alex and Tamara Grey
(Super Squad Coordinators)

About Me

Who are you?

Matthew Marshall, my friends call me Matt !

What church do you attend?

I go the Devonport church of Christ and help out at my youth ministry called Equip

What are your likes, dislikes, hobbies, school attending?

I like a lot of things mostly too many to list, but ill share a few. I love my music, kids and youth, being at camp, my friends and my awesome girl friend! and most of all GOD!

I don’t dislike many things but probably at the top of the list is high school musical!

I love most extreme sports and am a real adrenalin junkie so if it involves going fast, motors and water I’m there! I also love my music and play guitar in our youth band most Sunday nights.

Im on school holidays at the moment but when school starts again ill be in year 12 at Don College

 Plans for the future?

I plan to finish year 12 and go to the maritime College in Launceston and study naval architecture, or how to design boat for those who have no idea what naval architecture is.

Squad life and Training Week

Why are you doing the Super Squad course?

I really want to push myself further in my leadership role and see camp from a different perspective and have a chance to really serve.

Tell me about the training week you had? What did you like? What was challenging?

Training week was really fun, we did lots of activities to improve our team work and from this I learned that I am most comfortable as a leader in the group and I also learned that Alex likes to blind fold us!

It was really cool to achieve challenges as a group and to see others encounter their fears. For example troy doesn’t like heights but he still did the log on the high rope blind folded!

Overall the week was heaps of fun and it really helped us as a team to grow together. It was challenging when I had to step out of my comfort zone in the activities like the high ropes when we were blind folded.

What are you looking forward to?

Im really looking forward to running activities and supervising junior boys and just being at camp for the summer

             .

What types of things have you done so far in the course?

3/1/08

Well as I type I'm having my first taste of admin life and this is pretty much all we’ve done so far as yesterday we just got here and set up. I'm learning how to use lots of new toys in the office and how to design a web page. I also spent the morning working on our program for junior boys with Jack.

hi guys not much has happened since last time i updated but had maintenance on monday where i had to replace all the garden edges at bayside, it was hard work !

yesterday i had activities with alex and i got to belay some of the junior girls at crate stacking then we started making some seats for around the site and the wood dust gave me hay fever :(

today im doing admin which is good cause it gives me a chance to catch up on my squad homework and some homework from one of our speakers andrew gates who came to talk to us about planning for our future.

it's been really cool getting to know my other squad members better and to spend some time having D&M's with them to make sure they are going ok. anyways thats it from me for another day, feel free to email me guys !
